Class 3

Teacher: Mrs Sandy Martin

Autumn Term 2018 – Tudors and Sound

I am really looking forward to the start of a new year and working with all of the children, both old and new. This term our topic includes both History and Science.  The learning in English will be inspired by the topic, while Maths will stand alone away from the topic and will be taught discretely.

The Year 3 children will for the first time be studying French.

Please see below the Curriculum overview we will be covering during this half term.  (Click image to enlarge)

Daily Routines

At the start of term all of the children have completed a reading assessment on an ICT programme, Accelerated Reader (AR), which assesses their level. We would like you to continue listening to your child read in line with our homework policy, please initial in their reading record book every time you or another adult listens to them read. We monitor their results and change their levels at an appropriate time. If you have any queries please arrange a time to meet with me.

Please can your child have their reading book and reading record in every day. I will continue    checking their reading records on a weekly basis.

Homework will be sent out on a Wednesday to be returned by the following Monday. When working on the topic themed work and is more practical based these can come in when completed for us to celebrate in class.

We will complete a spelling and times table assessment as soon as possible, this will inform the spelling and times table homework they then receive. Spelling homework may include using given words in sentences or looking for patterns rather than learning words for a weekly test. Please check their homework book for further up dates.

Please ensure that your child always has their PE kit in school, for both indoor and outdoor PE lessons.

Please send your child in with a healthy snack (named helps avoid confusion) and a named school water bottle.

If you have any resources or specialism in any of the areas please let me know, we happily welcome visitors in class.

Kind Regards

Sandy Martin
